CANDLE CARE
Candle Safety / Care
- Always burn within sight.
- Keep away from flammable materials, children, and pets.
- Place on a heat-resistant, stable surface.
- Avoid drafts — they cause uneven burning and smoking.
- Don’t burn more than 4 hours at a time.
- Never move a candle while it’s lit or the wax is hot.
- Allow the candle to cool before relighting or moving.
- Stop burning when ½″ (1 cm) of wax remains.
- Keep wax free of debris.
- Keep lid on when not in use to preserve fragrance and prevent dust.
First Burn Instructions
- The first burn is the most important — it teaches your candle how to melt.
- This determines how your candle will perform for its entire life.
- Burn until the wax melts evenly to every edge (about 2-4 hours).
- Once the melt pool reaches the edges, extinguish the flame and let the wax cool completely before relighting.
- From then on, your candle will burn evenly and cleanly every time.
Wood Wick Tips
Wood wicks perform differently than cotton, and sometimes they can be a little tricky to re-light. If you are having trouble getting your wick going again:
- After the first burn, make sure the wick is trimmed and free of any charred wood.
- Hold your lighter or match at a slight angle toward the base of the wick and allow the flame to “catch” for a few seconds before pulling away.
- Rotate the candle slowly to help the wax pool soften around the wick.
- If the flame goes out, gently remove excess ash and try again — clean wood relights more easily once the wax softens.
